1. Jerusalem

I recently had a friend come back from a vacation to Israel and he said it was one of the most moving, inspiring places he’s visited. The city has a history that goes back to the 4th millennium BCE, making it one of the oldest cities in the World. It’s also been a spiritual center for people since 1000 BCE and contains significant religious history in Judaism, Islam and Christianity.

2. The Taj Mahal in India

When you see photos of the Taj Mahal, it almost doesn’t even look like it could be real, it’s more like a painting! In 3D form, it’s just as breathtaking. The Taj Mahal (also “the Taj”) is considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. The gardens, details and decoration are intricate and carefully designed, down to the tiniest detail.

3. <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=-13.1630555556,-72.5455555556&spn=1.0,1.0&q=-13.1630555556,-72.5455555556%20%28Machu%20Picchu%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="Machu Picchu" rel="geolocation" >Machu Picchu, Peru

Situated in the Urubamba Valley of Peru, Machu Picchu is an icon of the Inca World and often referred to as “The Lost City of the Incas.” The Incas started building the estate around AD 1400, pretty incredible to think that reminants of the empire are still standing, so long after! Hope you don’t mind a good hike….

4. The <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=29.9761111111,31.1327777778&spn=0.01,0.01&q=29.9761111111,31.1327777778%20%28Giza%20Necropolis%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="Giza Necropolis" rel="geolocation" >Pyramids Of Giza, Egypt

The Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years….and the way in which is was constructed has many theories. Can we just go with the theory that aliens did it? Who agrees?

5. The <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=41.9030555556,12.4544444444&spn=0.01,0.01&q=41.9030555556,12.4544444444%20%28Sistine%20Chapel%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="Sistine Chapel" rel="geolocation" >Sistine Chapel, Vatican City

Vatican City is incredible…the history, the traditions, the whole ceremony of Catholicism is beautiful and has certainly inspired some historically significant art, like the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel where Michelangelo depicts the famous “Creation of Adam” painting. You’ll literally be willing to get a cramp in your neck from looking up for an hour…you simply cannot take it all in, in one short trip.

6. The <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Wall_of_China"class="zem_slink" title="Great Wall Of China" rel="wikipedia" >Great Wall of China

Originally built to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire against intrusions by various nomadic groups such as the Xiongnu, since the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5th_century_BC"class="zem_slink" title="5th century BC" rel="wikipedia" >5th century BC the “great wall” has consisted of several walls built during different eras, the most historically significant during the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ming_Dynasty"class="zem_slink" title="Ming Dynasty" rel="wikipedia" >Ming Dynasty. The views are stunning, annnd bring your walking shoes!

7. Venice, Italy

So yes, the city itself is beautiful- the canals, the piazza’s, the people… I was particularly impressed with the stunning firemen, just sayin’. Since the city is indeed sinking, you better book your trip now…

8. The <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=-18.2861111111,147.7&spn=1.0,1.0&q=-18.2861111111,147.7%20%28Great%20Barrier%20Reef%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="Great Barrier Reef" rel="geolocation" >Great Barrier Reef

The World’s largest reef system in the world is located in the Coral Sea off of the coast of Queensland in northeast Australia. The reef is home to a diverse number of endangered species and home to 2,9000 individual reefs. If you aren’t afraid to scuba dive (like I am, thanks sharks) then take that flight over to Australia…there’s not better place in the world to scuba dive.

9. The Grand Canyon

I always think of Clark Griswold when someone mentions the Grand Canyon, “uh huh, uh huh, uhu…” well that’s certainly not how I was when I went, I was overcome with absolute awe. The U.S. National Park in Arizona is a brilliant palate of colors and stunning sunsets. The expansiveness simply cannot be put into terms, it must be seen!

10. The Acropolis, Athens Greece

Greece is littered with historical sites but the most famous is probably the Acropolis. Study up on your Greek history and mythology for Athens is bustling with stories and is a history buff’s DREAM vacation.

11. Iguazu Falls, Argentina

Located on the border of the Brazilian state of Parana and the Argentine province of Misiones. The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu. The falls are so spectacular, Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Poor Niagara!”

12. Bali, Indonesia

If you’re like the majority of the female population (if you’re a female) then you’ve become somewhat acquainted with Bali, thanks to the book “Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert. Her words describe a serenity and culture that is undoubtedly a “must see” destination.

13. Mount Everest, Nepal

The highest mountain in the World brings flocks of mountaineers looking to complete a successful climb. It certainly isn’t an easy feat, by the end of 2009 Everest had taken 216 live. I think I’m fine looking at it from afar…

14. The Amazon Rainforest

The Amazon rainforest covers most of the Amazon Basin of South America. The west, tropical forest is the most species-rich biome with rich plant life, birds, insects and some of the largest predatory creatures….wait a second, maybe I don’t want to visit?!

15. The Amalfi Coast

I took a vacation off the Amalfi Coast and I have to say it was one of the most magical, charming, places I’ve been. The coast stretches from the coastline on the southern side of the Sorrentine Peninsulua of Italy, extending from Positano in the west to Vietru sul Mare. It’s like something out of a move, absolutely magical.

16. Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park spans an area of 3,468 square miles, comprising of lakes, canyons, rivers and mountain ranges. Yellowstone also has one of the largest super volcanoes, the Yellowstone Caldera on the continent…. The caldera is still considered an active volcano. Hm, let’s hope it doesn’t erupt….

17. San Francisco Bay

The Golden Gate Bridge is something you’ve seen a million times in TV and film, but there’s nothing like visiting it! The climate, the foliage, and Fisherman’s Wharf and the sourdough bread, definitely a “must see.”

18. Bora Bora

If I were to look up “paradise” in the dictionary, I’m pretty sure Bora Bora would be next to it. The “dream vacation” for me would be French Polynesia and I believe that I would end up living in a little bungalow over the water for the rest of my life once I finally get there…

19. Rome

The Coliseum in Rome is quite possibly one of the most incredible pieces of historical architecture that’s still standing…that you can enjoy! Not to mention the city, the art, the food….everything about Rome is intoxicating.

20. Chichen Itza

I visited Chien Itza in Mexico several years ago, climbed the steps all the way to top. The Mayan culture and history is incredibly interesting and the architecture that still stands is a wonder to be seen!

When some creative minds were asked to come up with creative eco-friendly products they came back with some really bizarre products. From butts that contain rainwater to eerie biodegradable coffins we have a list of the most bizarre yet really cool eco-friendly products.

Big Butts Save Planets, the Brits Think So

No, the Brits are not paying Kim Kardashian to help their <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmentalism"class="zem_slink" title="Environmentalism" rel="wikipedia" >environment. What could appear to be some kinky sex toy believe it or not is an eco-friendly rainwater container. Some creative mind figured out that the best way to market UK’s “water butts”- the actual name of the water barrels, was to actually design well a butt. And the spigot is located exactly where you’d think it would be. What a conversation piece huh? Don’t worry; we know you’ve been wondering how to get a butt so check it out.

Get Buried in an Eco-Friendly Style

If you’re considering a traditional burial service then you may want to consider going eco-friendly cause when you go, why not go eco-friendly style right? A Colorado company sure thought so and created the Ecoffin, a biodegradable coffin made from banana sheaves, bamboo, or pandanus that decomposes along with your body. In just six months to two years the Ecoffin biodegrades making it a very environment-friendly product. You can get the Ecoffin starting at $800.

Love Your Dog? Wear it! No, eww, we mean the hair.

Wanna feel connected to your dog all the time? Well you can if you sport your dog’s fur. I know, it sounds weird but if you’re into fur you can definitely make <a href="http://www.peta.org"class="zem_slink" title="People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals" rel="homepage" >PETA smile, or at least grin? The idea started when Danielle German, a pet groomer in SC and owner of Catty Shack Creations, was asked by a friend to clip her dog’s hair so the friend can turn it into yarn. Soon after, the idea inspired other pet owners who often wanted to cool off their dogs during the summer by shaving off their furs.

Don’t worry; the pets do not suffer like other less fortunate animals. Their fur is shaven, collected and cured for a few days then later spun into yarn. Think it’s cool? Check out these amazing pics.

It’s a Soccer Ball, it’s a Portable Energy Generator no it’s the Soccket!

Inspired by the upcoming World Cup we’re sharing with you one of the coolest yet unusual eco-friendly products out there. The Soccket , a soccer ball turned portable energy generator is bringing people together for some good energy-generating soccer practice. Just like any other soccer ball you kick it, dribble it, or throw it and while you’re getting some good exercise the Soccket is capturing the energy it creates. In places like African where 90% of the population is living off-grid with no access to electricity, the Soccket makes their lives so much easier.

Look Environmentally-Hip in this EPA Dress

Make a <a href="http://www.wikinvest.com/industry/Fashion"class="zem_slink" title="Fashion" rel="wikinvest" >fashion statement that can also warn you when bad air days are around you with Stephanie Sandstrom’s EPA dress. The dress is embedded with sensors that read the atmosphere and when the air is not good the dress wrinkles to let you know you’re better off inside. How cool is that? This sweet little number wrinkles at the detection of pollutants in the air! Hmm, wonder if they can create one that wrinkles at the sight of a bad guy.

Accessorize Your Bathroom Eco-Friendly Style

Go Green in your bath! Thanks to designer Nguyen La Chanh you can literally go green in your bath with the earth-friendly Moss Carpet. Made from decay-free foam plastazote, the carpet comes with ball moss, island moss and forest moss. The carpet requires no green thumb as it thrives on the daily humidity produced in your bathroom. Now you can start your day with some green under your feet.

Fashionable Earrings Made From <a href="http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=IBM"class="zem_slink" title="NYSE: IBM" rel="yahoofinance" >IBM Typewriter Balls

Wanna wear a conversation piece that can actually help reduce landfills? Well thanks to creative Kitty Lab you can. These inexpensive cool earth-friendly earrings are made from vintage IMB typewriter balls. Don’t worry; the balls are made of plastic so the earrings are not heavy. How sweet is it to wear one-of-a-kind earrings that are inexpensive and also help the environment?

Get a Grip When Your <a href="http://www.apple.com/iphone"class="zem_slink" title="iPhone 3G" rel="homepage" >iPhone Needs Juice

Now there’s no excuse for you to say you don’t have any time to work out. Next time you need to charge up your iPhone consider this cool green idea by Mac Funamizu. Not only is it good for the environment but it also gives you great muscles. I know, no one has time to grip in this fast-paced environment but this gadget comes in very handy when there are no outlets around. Exercise for a cause! Cool huh?

With the WWF releasing its list of the 10 threatened species to watch out for in 2010 we can only wonder just how many other species are near extinction. From the aww-inspiring Pandas to the amazing Polar Bears, there are so many animals suffering from <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habitat_destruction"class="zem_slink" title="Habitat destruction" rel="wikipedia" >habitat loss and heart-less <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poaching"class="zem_slink" title="Poaching" rel="wikipedia" >poaching. All animals in this world deserve a chance to live regardless how bizarre they look or how dangerous they may be but it is always the cutest animals that melt our hearts. These 6 adorable animals are near extinction and they need our help. If we don’t spread the word one day these cute faces will no longer be around for us to admire.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Panda"class="zem_slink" title="Red Panda" rel="wikipedia" >Red Panda

Who doesn’t find pandas adorable? While the white and black pandas take center stage including some sweet face time in all Panda Express commercials, there’s another species of panda that needs our attention. Also known as Fire Fox, these adorable red fur shaggy tailed animals are slightly larger than a <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0412142/"class="zem_slink" title="House (TV series)" rel="imdb" >house cat which makes them uber cute and huggable. These adorable faces, like many other animals around the world, are facing extinction due to deforestation and the number of poachers who prey on their fur. These furry friends need your help and you can start by “liking” their Facebook Fan Page and if you can, make a donation to the Red Panda Network

Axolotl Salamander

To anyone that adores pink things we’ve found an animal you’re going to absolutely drool over and want to help. These smiley, alien-looking cutie pies are also known as “Mexican
Walking Fish” and are found near the waters of <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=19.4333333333,-99.1333333333&spn=0.1,0.1&q=19.4333333333,-99.1333333333%20%28Mexico%20City%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="Mexico City" rel="geolocation" >Mexico City. What’s really cool about them is their ability to regenerate most of its body parts. How cool is that? Sadly, these amazing looking creatures are facing extinction due to habitat destruction and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_pollution"class="zem_slink" title="Water pollution" rel="wikipedia" >water pollution.
Seriously, how cute are they?

Egyptian Tortoise

One of the world’s smallest tortoise and possibly the cutest reptiles in the world, the Egyptian Tortoise, is near extinction and needs your help. These adorable creatures that reach no more than 6 inches in size are found in the arid environments of the Mediterranean coastal desert between Libya and Israel. Their miniature size, the peril of this tortoise, makes it a hot item for illegal pet traders and it is often our desire to put these adorable creatures in our home environment that leads many of them to their death. Many of them die during their stressful shipment along with the threats of exposure to foreign pathogen.

Orangutan

Seriously, how can your heart not melt at the sight of this Orangutan? Sadly, due to their decline in population these apes may not be around for a long time. Their biggest threat, deforestation, is caused by the high demand of palm oil in places like Indonesia and Malaysia. Believe it or not we, as consumers, are putting these adorable animals in danger. This palm oil, a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetable_fats_and_oils"class="zem_slink" title="Vegetable fats and oils" rel="wikipedia" >vegetable oil, is found in 1 in every 10 products found in stores shelves including beauty products. Reports are saying that 90% of the Orangutan’s habitat has already been destroyed. If we don’t take steps to spread the word of forest conservation the Orangutans could be the first apes to face extinction. Places like the Bukit Lawang rehabilitation center in Indonesia are helping these mammals by providing them safe shelter from hunting and deforestation but they still need our help.

Iberian Lynx

These uber-cute cats are near extinction with only a few hundred living in the wild. Once found throughout the <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=36.0041666667,-5.61027777778&spn=1.0,1.0&q=36.0041666667,-5.61027777778%20%28Iberian%20Peninsula%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="Iberian Peninsula" rel="geolocation" >Iberian Peninsula and south of France, today their territory has reduced to the small areas of central and southwest Spain and the Algarve Mountains of Portugal. What should cause us great concern is that the Iberian Lynx is listed as a Category 1 endangered species meaning there’s only about a 100 or so still in the wild. Their lives are threaten each day by their lack of food supply but we’re also causing to their demise by setting traps for other animals around their turf and by cars as we build roads over their habitat. Seriously, we can’t do more to control their habitat?

Hawaiian Monk Seal

With their itty bitty eyes, long whiskers and peaceful nature, seals pull on every string of our hearts and we’re sad to say these adorable animals are facing extinction. When the bodies of these cute mammals are not found entangled in marine debris, they often fall prey to the deadly jaws of sharks. Due to the shortage of the marine food supply, these animals also face starvation and it is the lack of food that often leaves them weak and such an easy prey for sharks. Their biggest daily threat believe it or not is us humans who can’t seem to give them their space in the Hawaiian waters. To help protect their seals, the people of <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=21.3113888889,-157.796388889&spn=3.0,3.0&q=21.3113888889,-157.796388889%20%28Hawaii%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="Hawaii" rel="geolocation" >Hawaii created the Kauai Monk Seal Watch Program to create awareness and protection for these endangered creatures.

Friends, these adorable faces deserve to be around for many years. It is up to us to raise awareness and force for habitat conservation. If we don’t support the fight for the protection of all <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endangered_species"class="zem_slink" title="Endangered species" rel="wikipedia" >endangered animals one day they the last one of their species will take its last breath. Our future generations deserve to see these cuddly faces.

With the abundant amount of resources that we have we’re using a lot and we’re also WASTING even more. The hardest part is figuring out what to DO with all of the waste- what better thing that to take the waste and make something beautiful out of it?! Some of the most beautiful art has come from something “not so beautiful” in the first place- it’s all about the creative spin and how you use it! These artists figured out a way to make other peoples “trash” their artistic treasure.

1. The “Hungry God”

My question is, who’s kitchen did they raid to make such a cool skull with utensils?! The <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stainless_steel"class="zem_slink" title="Stainless steel" rel="wikipedia" >stainless steel skull is now in the possession of a billionaire French businessman who also happens to have the most extensive collection of contemporary art. Gee, I want to know that guy?! I wonder if he bought those people new spoons?

2. “Forevertron”

This whole “park” reminds me of something you’d see in a Pixar film! That’s an incredible feat as an artist to be able to create a whole land that reminds someone of a futuristic <a href="http://disney.go.com"class="zem_slink" title="The Walt Disney Company" rel="homepage" >Disney film! The artist Tom Every also known as Dr. Evermor created this entire structure out of recycled scrap metals! Forevertron itself stands 50 feet tall, 120 feet wide, 60 feet deep and weighs 320 tons.

3. The Bike Arch

I’ve always wanted to attend <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.7693,-119.2201&spn=1.0,1.0&q=40.7693,-119.2201%20%28Burning%20Man%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="Burning Man" rel="geolocation" >Burning Man and now I have even more reason to go and see an incredible piece of “art” like this. The arch was created by artists Mark Grieve and Ilana Spector, took its formation a few years back in <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.9102777778,-119.055&spn=1.0,1.0&q=40.9102777778,-119.055%20%28Black%20Rock%20Desert%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="Black Rock Desert" rel="geolocation" >Black Rock Desert, NV, when they were commissioned to create an “entryway” to the area where attendees of Burning Man placed their bikes! I suppose if you forgot yours, you could always just try and take one from the arch?…. Hm…do you think you could still ride these things?!

4. The “Alien”

I’ve always wondered what happens to all of the old cars that go off to the junkyard- do they just sit there and take up our beautiful land?! Well, I suppose they do in some cases and in this case artists Terrence Willment used old car parts to recreate the “Alien” from the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_film"class="zem_slink" title="Cult film" rel="wikipedia" >cult classic movie, “ALIEN.” All I know if whether it’s a car or an actual alien, I wouldn’t want to run into this thing in a dark alley…..nope.

5. The “lunch” snowman

I’m not sure what’s more disturbing- the fact that there’s a snowman that probably smells like old ham, or that children eat THIS MANY LUNCHABLES. A local daycare center in Canada constructed this “snowman” with recycled lunchables, juice boxes, and other lunch products from children’s lunches. All I have to say is- how about feeding your children more FRESH FOOD?

6. The “record wave”

As a music lover and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musician"class="zem_slink" title="Musician" rel="wikipedia" >musician- I’ve accumulated a whole lot of records! I’ve also found a few spots that sell old records for 50 cents! I’ve seen plenty of recycled jewelry made out of records and even BOWLS! All you do is pop the record in the microwave, or leave it in yoru car overnight and you’ve got a cool “wavy” looking vinyl- looks like the artist knew what happens to records in heat and they created a “wave” of records….surfin’ the music wave!

7. The “<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House"class="zem_slink" title="House" rel="wikipedia" >house waste Elephant”

This clever artist created the recycled elephant out of standard household waste! If you think about it, what was the last thing you did with your old computers?….you should just make a crazy lawn elephant out of it?!

8. The “Gas Station

How about all of those abandoned buildings out there?! Jennifer Marsh an artist and environmentalist activist learned that there were over 200,000 abandoned gas stations across America and she deiced to turn one into a piece of art! What if we did this with all abandoned buildings?….

9. Trash people

You’ve got to be careful about what kind of trash you put into these “people” you don’t want any stinky trash, that’ll deflect people from checking out the art! There are 1000 trash men in total, all of which are constructed out of aluminum cans, computer parts, and plastic. CRAZY! That’s a lot of trash!

10. The Airplane House

The Airplane house isn’t only a residence, but it’s also a piece of ART! Instead of having a regular <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_home"class="zem_slink" title="Mobile home" rel="wikipedia" >mobile home, the owner decided to buy an old <a href="http://www.continental.com"class="zem_slink" title="Continental Airlines" rel="homepage" >Continental Airlines 727 and convert it into a home! In fact, she only paid $2,000 dollars for it…that’s one inexpensive piece if property!

As us Americans have much faith in the government (…some people), we assume that they’d protect us and not allow us all to be in contact with BPA. Guess what? It’s not true. And we’re all exposed.

The <a href="http://www.nrdc.org/"class="zem_slink" title="Natural Resources Defense Council" rel="homepage" >NRDC filed a lawsuit today against the <a href="http://www.fda.gov/"class="zem_slink" title="Food and Drug Administration" rel="homepage" >Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the failure to make any advances on a petition created to completely rid the use of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisphenol_A"class="zem_slink" title="Bisphenol A" rel="wikipedia" >Bisphenol A (BPA) in food containers, some <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_packaging"class="zem_slink" title="Food packaging" rel="wikipedia" >food packaging, and many additional everyday materials that come into contact with food and/or liquids.

BPA is the chemical used to create <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycarbonate"class="zem_slink" title="Polycarbonate" rel="wikipedia" >polycarbonate <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic"class="zem_slink" title="Plastic" rel="wikipedia" >plastics which are usually used in the creation of water bottles, baby bottles, and the “sippy cups” for toddlers. Well isn’t that great, two of the three listed are primarily for the most fragile of us all, and it all wouldn’t matter if the chemical couldn’t leak inside into the liquids inside the containers. But of course, they do. It is said to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead"class="zem_slink" title="Lead" rel="wikipedia" >lead to complications such as chromosome abnormalities, breast cancer, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostate_cancer"class="zem_slink" title="Prostate cancer" rel="wikipedia" >prostate cancer, and even changes in brain development ultimately leading to behavioral abnormalities.

The FDA has yet to ACTUALLY acknowledge all of the new research results coming out with these harmful affects that can come along with BPA. – Know what’s even better? Studies show 90 percent of us are exposed. Do what you want FDA, but avoiding this one isn’t helping anybody.

Today, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning"class="zem_slink" title="Lightning" rel="wikipedia" >lightning stuck the <a href="http://www.bp.com"class="zem_slink" title="BP" rel="homepage" >BP ship, “Discover <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0244365/"class="zem_slink" title="Star Trek: Enterprise" rel="imdb" >Enterprise,” which was capturing oil out in the <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=25.0,-90.0&spn=0.1,0.1&q=25.0,-90.0%20%28Gulf%20of%20Mexico%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="Gulf of Mexico" rel="geolocation" >Gulf of Mexico. This of course ignited a fire on the ship, setting back the company’s efforts for containment. The fire ignited in a vent pipe apart of a tank, which the oil was stored in on the ship. Luckily the fire was put out abruptly and none of the engineers on board were injured.

The ship itself sucks up about 630,000 gallons of oil per day out of the gulf. Though this is a lot of oil, it’s clearly not even close to help saving the lives of all of the birds and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_biology"class="zem_slink" title="Marine biology" rel="wikipedia" >sea life that have been killed or sickened by this mess. There are still SO many animals suffering. Plus, this has already been around a two-month effort to clean this oil up! How much longer do they possibly need? They need more ships covering more space to efficiently clear the waters. I just can’t believe how much <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luck"class="zem_slink" title="Luck" rel="wikipedia" >bad luck could this company have! Nothing seems to be falling in the right place for them right now.

BP Spokesman Robert Wine stated, “At the moment, there’s no capture, no containment going on, but we’ll start up the Enterprise when it’s safe to do so.” They hope to resume oil containment from the well this afternoon. Before use, BP will use robotic <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Submarine"class="zem_slink" title="Submarine" rel="wikipedia" >submarines to look over their entire containment system to survey possible damage.

Those submarines better work quickly! I can’t stand to see those pictures of dead birds and turtles drenched in oil, every single time I log onto the internet… Make it stop!

When our planet is in constant peril and so many precious species out there are facing extinction we often wonder if there’s anything we can do to help the cause. Believe it or not the first step to making this world a better place starts with us and our everyday behaviors and actions. It takes baby steps to impact the world. From <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recycling"class="zem_slink" title="Recycling" rel="wikipedia" >recycling to starting your own garden to volunteering your time there are many things we can do to make a difference. To help you out we came up with baby steps that can make a huge impact in our environment and some of them can actually save you a few bucks.

Recycle

Recycling is the easiest way to make a huge difference. Did you know that a used aluminum can that is recycled is back as a brand new can in store shelves in as little as 60 days? What if we threw away the can? Sadly, it will be still be trashing our land for more than 500 years. As Recycling Revolution points out, a well-planned recycling program can save cities big bucks. You can start recycling today and make a difference that will impact your future generations to come. Wanna spread the efforts? Encourage your friends and <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073992/"class="zem_slink" title="Family (TV series)" rel="imdb" >family to recycle.

Stop The Abuse Of Animals

Sadly, many companies are still testing products on animals. Many beauty products today are still testing their products on animals. What can you do to make a difference? Be aware and get active. While many companies are taking a stand and stamping “not tested in animals” on their products many companies are secretly still following this inhumane practice. Get informed with sites such as Stop Animal Tests.

Reuse

Take a look in your trash can and see just how much plastic you’re constantly throwing out. Many times half of what you throw can easily be reused. Look it at as a way to make your wallet happy since you’d be surprise just how much money you can spend each year on bottled water for example. Next time you’re out shopping invest in a reusable bottle and see just how much money you can save. Also, save some money and save our planet by investing in some <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stainless_steel"class="zem_slink" title="Stainless steel" rel="wikipedia" >stainless steel silverware and plates. Don’t know where to start? Check out EcoWise and other sites that feature <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmentally_friendly"class="zem_slink" title="Environmentally friendly" rel="wikipedia" >eco-friendly products.

Volunteer Your Time

During Thanksgiving and the holidays many <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-profit_organization"class="zem_slink" title="Non-profit organization" rel="wikipedia" >non-profit organizations in your area need a few extra hands to feed the less fortunate. If you have a few extra dollars in your pocket during the holidays stop by the toy isles and buy a gift for a needy child. There are so many children around us, even right in our neighborhoods, that spend Christmas without gifts under their trees. During school time, donate a few extra school supplies. The best way to make a difference in your community is to volunteer your time either during the holidays or during the weekends picking up liter and beautifying the parks. Not only will you feel good about yourself but you’ll make someone else feel good.

Save Energy

Not only would you be saving yourself some sweet moolah on your utility bills but you’ll also be helping reduce your CO2 emissions which contribute the greatest threat to our <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming"class="zem_slink" title="Global warming" rel="wikipedia" >global warming. From upgrading your home to energy-efficient products to simply cutting back on the electricity you waste each day, you can make a big difference in our environment.

Want A Pet? Rescue One

Yes, those cute purse dogs licking the windows at the pet store are adorable but why not make an impact in the life of a dog who only knows abuse and hunger. Visit your local <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_shelter"class="zem_slink" title="Animal shelter" rel="wikipedia" >animal shelter and adopt a pet that really needs a good home. If you can’t adopt a pet at least donate your time to local animal shelters or donate financially.

Park Your Car, Carpool

When fewer cars are on the road there’s less car congestion which reduces <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_pollution"class="zem_slink" title="Air pollution" rel="wikipedia" >air pollution and saves our air quality. Not only will you be saving the planet but you’ll so be saving money on gas and with today’s gas prices we can all use a little help. Many companies today promote carpools and set up locations for their employees. Sites like Ride Finders provide you with a wealth of information and even incentives.

Start Your Own Garden

In today’s economy many people are mastering the green thumb and are starting their own gardens. Not only are you saving money on vegetables but you’re also helping the environment by not buying produce from companies that <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollution"class="zem_slink" title="Pollution" rel="wikipedia" >pollute our environment. Seeing something grow right before your eyes will motivate you to think green and make other changes in your consumption that will impact our <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth"class="zem_slink" title="Earth" rel="wikipedia" >earth.

See Trash? Pick It Up

It’s a shame that there are so many inconsiderate people in this world polluting our earth with trash that needs to be recycled. You can make a difference by helping our environment and picking up trash. Trust me, we’re not asking you to grab a garbage bag and roam the streets, a small gesture of picking up a piece of paper on the floor has great impact. Set an example for others and promote “See Trash? Pick it up”. We know that children model our behavior and if we can teach our children to pick up trash around them we’ll presently make an impact in our environment for generations to come.

When was the last time love inspired you to sacrifice absolutely everything? In this article we cover the most powerful love stories that changed the world. From tales written centuries ago to those that took our breath in the last few years, these captivating stories teach us that love, although old as the wind, is the most powerful feeling in the world.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romeo_and_Juliet"class="zem_slink" title="Romeo and Juliet" rel="wikipedia" >Romeo And Juliet

Our greatest love story of all time, Romeo and Juliet, teaches us the beauty and depth of young love and just how much some lovers will sacrifice for the sake of their love. Romeo and Juliet is the synonym for love. It was Shakespeare who coined the term “<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star-crossed"class="zem_slink" title="Star-crossed" rel="wikipedia" >star-crossed lovers” in this tragic love story, a term very popular today when describing two lovers that regardless of their profound love for each other, they’re just not meant to be.

It was love at first sight for both Romeo <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romeo_Montague"class="zem_slink" title="Romeo Montague" rel="wikipedia" >Montague and Juliet <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_in_Romeo_and_Juliet"class="zem_slink" title="Characters in Romeo and Juliet" rel="wikipedia" >Capulet. Two young lovers from opposing families fall madly in love. As told in many plays and movies, we all know how their love tragically ends. Going against her family’s wishes to marry another man, Juliet, already secretly married to Romeo, takes a poison intended to put her in a death-like comma in hopes of reuniting with her beloved Romeo at the Capulet crypt. But Romeo unaware of this lays there in the Capulet crypt crying over the body of his beloved Juliet. Thinking she’s dead, Romeo decides that he can’t take another breath without Juliet by his side and drinks a poison that leaves his life-less body resting on top of Juliet. Juliet awakens to find her lover dead and unable to even think of life without Romeo she takes his poison and ends her life. There in the damp Capulet crypt laid the life-less bodies of two young lovers who chose death over a life without each other.

<a href="http://www.last.fm/music/William%2BShakespeare"class="zem_slink" title="William Shakespeare" rel="lastfm" >William Shakespeare penned the most tragic love story to ever be written and for generations beyond our sight, it will always capture tender sympathies because it will always play on the universal theme of love, hate, sacrifice, violence, and power. Even today, we still have our Romeos and Juliets, star-crossed lovers fighting prejudice and rebelling against the world all in the name of love.

Christopher And Dana Reeves

A true testament to one’s commitment to love and honor even through sickness and in health, the love story of Christopher and Dana Reeves teaches us that love endures it all even through life’s most tragic and challenging circumstances. Paralyzed from an equestrian accident in 1995, our beloved Superman, contemplated suicide but it was the love of his wife that kept him alive. In an interview he quoted her saying, “I’ll be with you for the long haul, no matter what. You’re still you. And I love you.”

During his tragedy Dana never abandoned his side and together they founded The Christopher Reed Foundation, which is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury. After Reeve’s death in 2004, Dana was at the helm of his foundation but this amazing and brave woman later endured her most challenging battle when she was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2005.

Dana described how his disability didn’t change their commitment to each other. “Had I given up and said, oh, you’re sick I’m not going to ever ask anything of you, it would’ve belittled him.” On March 2006, just 11 days shy from her 45th birthday, Dana Reeve loses her battle to cancer. Christopher and Dana Reeves teach us that love endures it all and it is through the immeasurable power of love that we find the strength to keep giving and living love.

Prince Edward And Wallis Simpson

The Cinderella stories of today are a pale comparison to one of Britain’s greatest love stories. On December 1936, the handsome <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_VIII_of_the_United_Kingdom"class="zem_slink" title="Edward VIII of the United Kingdom" rel="wikipedia" >King Edward VIII, gave up his throne in the name of love. Can love be so powerful to overthrow a country’s centuries-old royal tradition? It was for the charming Edward VIII who allowed his heart to dictate his destiny and fall for the twice-divorced Boston native Wallis Simpson. Just like a Cinderella story, they met at a party hosted by no other than Edward’s lover, Lady Thelma Furness, and the rest is history, literally.

The jaws of millions dropped when in 1936 he announced, “I have found it impossible to carry the heavy burden of responsibility and to discharge my duties as King as I would wish to do without the help and support of the woman I love.”

Throughout the years, many rumors have unveiled a different story to one of Britain’s greatest love stories but one thing will always remain clear: King Edward fell madly in love and to be with the woman he loved he gave up his throne. As Prince Edward later wrote in his 1951 autobiography, “She promised to bring into my life something that wasn’t there.”

Cleopatra And Marc Anthony

The relationship between Cleopatra and Marc Anthony is still today one of the most captivating love stories of our time. As documented, Cleopatra was not only naturally stunning, but it was her magnetizing presence and intelligence that captured the hearts of not one, but two Roman leaders. Using her attributes for her country’s political interest, Cleopatra succeeded at having the Roman leader fall madly in love with her.

How in love was Anthony? If giving parts of Rome to Cleopatra and making his children with her kings and queen isn’t a true testament of love what is?

Just like Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers, Anthony and Cleopatra fought for their love and secretly married. Their whirlwind romance was destined to fail as the Romans felt threatened by Egypt’s growing power and Anthony’s abandonment of his Roman wife, Octavia. History tells us that during a battle against the Romans, Anthony received news that his beloved Cleopatra had been killed and unable to bare the loss of his true love, Anthony used his sword to end his life. Devastated by the loss of her love, Cleopatra also ended her life. Her last request was granted when she was buried next to the love of her life. These two historical lovers are still by each other’s side even after death.

<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006168/"class="zem_slink" title="John Lennon" rel="imdb" >John Lennon and <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0648780/"class="zem_slink" title="Yoko Ono" rel="imdb" >Yoko Ono

John and Yoko’s passionate and inspiring love for each other is often shadowed by the idea that Yoko Ono broke up the Beatles. While the media spent most of their time questioning them and accusing her of killing the world’s greatest band, they failed to see the powerful message of love and peace that Lennon and Ono were trying to share with the world. From their infamous “Bed-In” for peace demonstration to many other anti-war demonstrations, Lennon and Ono spent their entire time together rallying for a better world. Lennon was so committed to Ono that in 1969 he legally changes his name to John Ono Lennon- today he’s simply remembered as John Lennon.

She may not have been the Twiggy-type but Ono was Lennon’s greatest muse. Lennon and Ono’s passion and love inspired many things even John’s most famous song, Imagine. It’s said that it was Ono’s book The Grapefruit, which contained the words “imagine” that inspired John to write what is considered his greatest musical contribution.

Regardless what the world thought of them, Lennon and Ono were happy and very much in love. Their love inspired many generations to come and in a time when being free was in fashion their passion for a better world brought us what could be considered Lennon’s most popular and touching song, Imagine.

When this blue-eyed bikini clad isn’t making us wonder if she is A-Rod’s “it” girl she’s busy taking a stand for our environment. From an MTV show Trippin which filmed the actress and her close friends in a wild global adventure to share the message of global awareness to closely working with <a href="http://algore.com"class="zem_slink" title="Al Gore" rel="homepage" >Al Gore in Save Our Selves, this Hollywood A-lister is wasting no moment of shine to spread the word about the importance of saving our planet.

Rosario Dawson

This sexy New Yorker wasted no time to use her star power for a good cause. From taking a stand against Arizona’s discriminating Bill 1070 to urging young fans to vote this humanitarian is always trying to make a difference. A strong supporter of Global Cool, a celebrity-powered organization aiming to raise pollution awareness, Rosario shares with her fans the importance of being an activist.

Natalie Portman

Our girl crush Natalie has not only come out as a vegan but she also shares that she refuses to eat or wear any animal products. While her vegan shoe collection might throw you off, this sexy activist has used her shine to support eco-friendly groups and is always contributing to charities and raising animal protection awareness through documentaries. In 2008 the Star Wars actress was given The Movie for Humanity Award during the Venice Film Festival.

<a href="http://www.kylie.com"class="zem_slink" title="Kylie Minogue" rel="homepage" >Kylie Minogue

Our “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” Aussie singer isn’t producing chart-topping hits she’s busy using her star power for a greater cause. As a cancer survivor not only is she raising breast cancer awareness but in 2007 she partnered with H&M to design wallet-friendly bathing suits. 10 percent of the earnings went to Water Aid Foundation, an organization that works hard to provide clean water to developing countries.

Norah Jones

When this gorgeous sultry singer is touring she partners with an organization called Reverb which comes up with environment-friendly tour alternatives including diesel tour buses. Wouldn’t it be nice if other musicians made their tours more eco-friendly?

Sienna Miller

While other celebrities prefer to show off designer duds in every photo op, fresh-faced Sienna has become the face of Global Cool, an organization that raises carbon emission awareness by printing the message on organic T-shirts. Imagine if more celebrities put away designer freebies and started wearing environment-awareness tees?

Daryl Hannah

In 2006 Darryl Hannah along with protestors were arrested when they tried to intervene the bulldozing of the nation’s largest urban farm in LA. If that isn’t enough this Hollywood activist has created her own blog to raise awareness of conservation and all living things in our planet.

Sheryl Crow

This rockin’ mama has taking the helm of celebrity activism by spreading her message of anti-war and efforts to combat our earth’s greatest threat, global warming. In 2007 the Grammy-winning singer headlined “Stop Global Warming” college tour and just like Norah Jones, she made sure to keep her tour eco-friendly by using biodiesel for her buses.

Sarah McLachlan

If watching Sarah McLauchlan’s “Arms of An Angel” stop animal abuse video isn’t heart warming I don’t know what else is. This Grammy-winning singer has become a passionate animal activist and supporter of ASPCA.

KT Tunstall

This Eco-friendly rock star used her album “Eye of the Telescope” to promote conservation and urged her fans to pay 10 pounds to dedicate their own tree in the KT Turnstall forest. She’s also actively involved in UK’s charity “The Global Cool Foundation” and just like Sherryl Crow and Norah Jones she ran her tour on biodiesel buses.

Was the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administrator_of_the_Environmental_Protection_Agency"class="zem_slink" title="Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency" rel="wikipedia" >Administrator of the <a href="http://www.epa.gov"class="zem_slink" title="United States Environmental Protection Agency" rel="homepage" >Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under <a href="http://www.georgewbushlibrary.gov"class="zem_slink" title="George W. Bush" rel="homepage" >President George W. Bush during the second term of his administration. He angered quite a few people when he tried to block the efforts of 17 states to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve fuel economy and in 2008, evidence came out that in denying California its waiver for tailpipe emission standards. Oy vey, that’s what happens when you work under Bush…bad apples from a bad tree.

2. Don Blankenship

The CEO of <a href="http://www.masseyenergyco.com/"class="zem_slink" title="Massey Energy" rel="homepage" >Massey Energy, the sixth largest coal company- was once quoted saying, “The Greeniacs are taking over the world” In 2009 Blankenship denied that <a href="http://www.wikinvest.com/concept/Global_Climate_Change"class="zem_slink" title="Global Climate Change" rel="wikinvest" >climate change, or “global warming,” existed, and stated: “Why should we trust a report by the United Nations? The United Nations includes countries like Venezuela, North Korea and Iran.”

3. George Will

The columnist has notoriously printed misinformation and errors in several of his columns, many of which pertaining to his doubt over Global Warming. George once said, “”According to the University of Illinois’ Arctic Climate Research Center, global sea ice levels now equal those of 1979.”….therefore it doesn’t exist? Hm. Not exactly responsible journalism.

4. James Inhofe

The Senator of Oklahoma said in response to his beliefs on global warming, that it is, “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind.” Wow. The Senator believe that “scientific consensus” on climate change is a conspiracy perpetrated by greedy scientists to score grant money. Thank god I don’t live in Oklahoma.

5. Sallie Baliunas

This pretty much says it all, “If scientists and researchers were coming out releasing reports that global warming has little to do with man, and more to do with just how the planet works, there wouldn’t be as much money to study it.” Alright Sallie, that’s pure ignorance.

6. Lord Christopher Monckton

If Glenn Beck admire your beliefs, then we likely have a problem-
His most outlandish statement? “The right response to the non-problem of global warming is to have the courage to do nothing.”

7. Steven Milloy

As a “junk science” commentator for <a href="http://www.foxnews.com/"class="zem_slink" title="Fox News Channel" rel="homepage" >Foxnews.com, you have to be wary of anything he says. Hi Fox news, waving at you! Milloy has expressed his doubt and has consistently argued from the position of a global warming <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming_controversy"class="zem_slink" title="Global warming controversy" rel="wikipedia" >skeptic that human activity has little impact on climate change and that regulations to limit greenhouse gas emissions are unwarranted and harmful to business interests. Recently he offered a prize of $500,000 to anyone who can “prove, in a scientific manner, that humans are causing harmful global warming.” What a fool.

8. Fred Singer

Singer is Professor Emeritus of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_science"class="zem_slink" title="Environmental science" rel="wikipedia" >environmental science at the <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.035,-78.505&spn=0.01,0.01&q=38.035,-78.505%20%28University%20of%20Virginia%29&t=h"class="zem_slink" title="University of Virginia" rel="geolocation" >University of Virginia, and has said “Climate change is a natural phenomenon. Climate keeps changing all the time. The fact that climate changes is not in itself a threat, because, obviously, in the past <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human"class="zem_slink" title="Human" rel="wikipedia" >human beings have adapted to all kinds of climate changes.” That’s right, it’s easier not to claim any responsibility!

9. Sarah Palin

What isn’t she a villain of, women, you should all agree….but I digress. We’ve got yet another person who doesn’t believe that man have anything to do with “global warming” as they would put it. Sarah is also one for, drill baby drill! Terrifying.

10. Richard Lindzen

The professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is a widely known skeptic of global warming, quited as saying, “Global warming has been merely a device for implementing broader agendas.” Hm…who wouldn’t want to sit in his classroom?
